A little bit about who I am and what I do....

About Me

Perhaps you're wondering who I am and what I do. Well, here's a little bit about me.

My name's Lena. I'm based in Northumberland, in the UK. and started making jewellery about four years ago.

I sell my work through galleries and shops in England and Scotland, and now through this website too. I also teach - you guessed it, jewellery-making! - in my local community.

I design and make all the jewellery and gifts you see on this site by hand, producing them in one-off or limited editions.

jewellery-making tools and materials

My head is full of ideas so I'm constantly developing and creating new pieces.I use the finest beads and findings that I'm able to find and aim to produce jewellery that's bold, distinctive and wearable, high quality and affordable.

I'm not at all 'precious' about the components I use and enjoy working with, and combining, a range of materials - both man-made and natural - including semi-precious stones, crystals, pearls, glass, acrylic, shell, Tibetan silver, silver plate and other metals.

I'll happily break the rules and use semi-precious stones alongside everyday materials, as long as the combination is visually appealing.

Workshops and Courses

If you'd like to learn how to make beaded jewellery you can join one of my lively courses at the Queen Elizabeth High School in Hexham, Northumberland.

My next three week course is planned to starts after the Easter break. Classes are held once a week and are two hours long. Come and join me and learn the basics of making beaded jewellery - necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

If you'd like more information, please send me an email or fill in the Contact Form on this website.

I also run informal jewellery-making workshops for both children and adults in other venues in Hexham. For details of forthcoming workshops please take a look at my events listings or get in touch with me.

If you'd like to have a jewellery-making get-together with a group of friends, I can organise one for you and tailor it to your own requirements. They're always great fun and you can learn new skills and create your very own jewellery whilst socialising in a relaxed atmosphere. Please contact me if you're interested in this option.

Workshops usually run for two hours at a venue of your choice. As a guide, a basic necklace workshop is priced at £12 per person, which includes tuition, all materials and use of tools and equipment.

Alternatively if you prefer to buy your own materials, you can choose to pay me by the hour. My hourly rate is currently £18.00 which can be shared by the group. All the tools you'll need to make your jewellery will be provided and a great range of materials at very reasonable prices will also be available for sale.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Alterations and Commissions

I'm always happy to customise or alter my designs to your requirements. I can shorten or lengthen an item, change a clasp or earring fittings, or create a matching bracelet, necklace or pair of earrings for you. I can also make up any item with a sterling silver clasp or earwires.

Most changes can be made at no extra cost. You can choose to have sterling silver earwires fitted to any earring design at an additional cost of £2.00 by adding this item to your shopping basket. The price of other sterling silver components and new items will need to be calculated on an individual basis.

bead strings

I'm also happy to take on commissions,  to design and make a piece exclusively for you or a loved one.

Please send me a message and I'll contact you to discuss your requirements.

Re-stringing and Repairs

While I use premium quality beading wire for stringing, your jewellery will still need to be re-strung at some point in the future. I offer a one-year guarantee for workmanship with every purchase from me and after that I'll still happily restring or repair your pieces for you.

Small repairs are undertaken free of charge, other than the cost of materials and postage. If more expensive work is needed I will provide you with a quotation before starting the repair.

I also offer a restringing and repair service for most types of beaded jewellery that you've bought elsewhere.

    stringing supplies

My prices are very reasonable, starting at £3.00. Please contact me for further details or a leaflet.

Beading Supplies

I have a large selection of beads, findings and other supplies for jewellery-making that I sell at very reasonable prices at my classes and workshops.

I also sell a small selection on ebay, under two separate accounts: l-p-jewellery and lpringle-uk. If you need any beads or other materials for jewellery making and you're local you can contact me and I'll happily arrange to meet with you.

Jewellery Parties

If you live in Northumberland or Newcastle you could host a jewellery party. This is a fun and relaxed jewellery shopping event for your friends or colleagues in your own home or workplace.

All you have to do is choose a venue, date and time, send out your invitations and organise a few drinks and some nibbles for your guests. I'll take care of the rest!

The host will be able to choose free jewellery up to 15% of sales at the party. Alternatively your commission can go to your chosen charity.

Please get in touch for more details or a leaflet.
